Piggery and Feed Farmers Training Program of the Samoa- China Agriculture Technical Aid Project Successfully Started

On October 9, 2024, Mr. Cheng Jun, Charge d 'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Samoa attended and delivered a speech at the launching ceremony of the first session of the Piggery and Feed Farmers Training Program of the Samoa- China Agriculture Technical Aid Project(SCATAP). More than 40 people including the Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries(MAF), Mr. Ricky Faatonu, officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and trainees participated.

Firstly, Mr. Cheng, on behalf of H.E. Ambassador Fei Mingxing, congratulated the successful holding of the training session, and introduced the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Mr. Cheng said that after more than 70 years of hard work led by the CPC together with Chinese people, China has basically achieved food independence. General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed that food security is a "national priority", pointing out that the key to ensuring food security is to implement the food crop production strategy based on farmland management and technological application. It’s hoped that through this training program, the two countries can strengthen agricultural technology exchanges, jointly strengthen food security, and promote new development of bilateral relations on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of China-Samoa diplomatic ties next year.
