On 30 November 2024, Her Excellency Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, Yan Jiarong, attended the Kite Festival hosted by the Bahamas-China Friendship Association and was interviewed by mainstream Bahamian media. The event attracted over 100 Bahamian youths and community members.

Ambassador Yan introduced the long-standing kite culture of China, noting that both China and The Bahamas advocate respect for the diversity of civilizations, cultural exchanges and mutual learning to enhance understanding and friendship among nations, which reflects the core essence of China’s Global Civilization Initiative. The Kite Festival, following the Dragon Boat Festival, is another important example of cultural exchange between China and The Bahamas, with the potential to become a vibrant symbol of the Bahamian sports culture to promote its tourism development.

Ambassador Yan and the Embassy staff, joined Bahamian youths in flying kites. The kids showed great enthusiasm for learning Chinese and enjoyed the traditional Chinese cuisine prepared by the Embassy and local Chinese community. The event was filled with laughter and joy.
