On 2 December 2024, Consul-General Dr Ruan Zongze was invited by Griffith University to give a lecture to the Hong Kong Metropolitan University MBA Study Tour. Pro Vice Chancellor (Business) of Griffith University Professor Caitlin Byrne attended the event.
Dr Ruan welcomed the students. He said that unilateralism and protectionism are the biggest obstacles to world economic development, but "deglobalization" can't stop the historical trend of economic globalization. The economies of China and Australia are highly complementary, with a solid foundation for cooperation and strong resilience. Chinese modernization and high-level opening up will create greater space for China-Australia economic and trade cooperation. The bilateral cooperation in traditional fields such as energy, mining and agriculture will be continuously strengthened, and cooperation in emerging fields such as green development, scientific and technological innovation will be further expanded.
Professor Byrne encourages the students to strengthen mutual learning with Australian enterprises during the study tour, tap into the cooperation potential in new energy, science and technology, health welfare, care services for the elderly and children, and promote bilateral cooperation and exchanges in all fields.
Dr Ruan also answered questions from the students.
