Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian Attends “2025 Chinese New Year Gala” in Brisbane

On 8 February 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian attended "2025 Chinese New Year Gala" held in Brisbane City Hall and gave a speech. Graham Perret MP, representing Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, other important political figures, and more than a thousand representatives from Chinese and local communities attended the gala. Chinese Consul-General in Brisbane Dr Ruan Zongze and diplomats of Chinese Embassy and Consulate-General also attended.

Ambassador Xiao gave warm greeting to the Chinese community in Queensland, and said the Chinese New Year has been inscribed as a representative work of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. To celebrate the Chinese New Year together will further manifest its value in facilitating the local multiculturalism and the mutual understanding, friendship and exchange between Chinese and Australian peoples. Ambassador Xiao pointed out that the last year was a year of great progress for the China-Australia relationship. The cooperation of the two countries not only bring well-being to the peoples of the two countries, but also promote the stability and prosperity of the world.

Prior to the Gala, Ambassador Xiao attended the square party of the 12th Chinese Culture Festival, communicating with local Chinese, and sending greetings to each other.
