Chinese Ambassador to Tonga Liu Weimin Attends the Handover Ceremony for Agricultural Supplies

On February 18, H.E. Ambassador Liu Weimin and Hon. Dr. Siosiua Halavatau, Minster for Agriculture, Food and Forests, attended the handover ceremony for agricultural supplies and signed the handover certificate.

Ambassador Liu said, upholding the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, China was ready to share experience in agricultural development and practical agricultural technologies with Tonga, so as to promote income growth of Tongan farmers and living standard of the public. This batch of agricultural supplies, including laboratory equipment and agricultural machinery, was another testament of of China's support for Tonga in developing its agricultural industry and promoting sustainable economic and social development.

Hon. Dr. Siosiua Halavatau expressed his gratitude for China's generous assistance, and believed it would inject new momentum into Tonga’s agricultural modernization.

Ambassador Liu and Hon. Dr. Siosiua Halavatau also exchanged views on strengthening agricultural cooperation and promoting food security, and agreed on further expanding collaboration to promote bilateral relations and enhance people’s well-being.
