Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian Attends the Event of Chinese in Western Division Celebrate the Spring Festival and the 170th Anniversary of the Arrival of Chinese in Fiji

On February 23rd, Ambassador Zhou Jian went to Nadi to attend the Event of Chinese in Western Division Celebrate the Spring Festival and the 170th Anniversary of the arrival of Chinese in Fiji with nearly 300 guests, including the Commissioner of Western Division, officials from Lautoka, Ba and Nadi, members of Chinese community and people from all walks of life in Fiji.

In his speech, Ambassador Zhou Jian said that this year marks not only the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Fiji, but also the 170th anniversary of the arrival of Chinese in Fiji. Zhou Jian encouraged all overseas Chinese in Fiji to be the creator of a better life, the defender of community unity, the inheritor of China’s fine culture, the contributor to the friendship between China and Fiji, and work together with all sectors of Fiji to create a more glorious future.

Mr. Apolosi Lewaqai, Commissioner of Western Division, highly recognized the important contributions that Chinese people have made to the development of Fiji over the past 170 years, saying that the Western Division will continue to be committed to promoting practical cooperation between Fiji and China.

Ambassador Zhou Jian and the guests enjoyed the Chinese cultural performances. All the guests had a good time during the event.
