On February 27, Ambassador Xiao Qian was invited to deliver a speech titled "Join Hands in a Changing World for Greater Progress in China-Australia Relations" at the Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA)Tasmania branch. About 70 representatives from political, academic, and business communities in Tasmania attended the event.
In his speech, Ambassador Xiao outlined China's perspective on the current international situation and its foreign policy. Ambassador Xiao also recalled the experience of comprehensive turnaround of the China-Australia relations in recent years and called for continued efforts of both sides to implement the strategic consensus reached by the two leaders,promoting a more stabilized, productive China-Australia relationship with greater development progress and thus contributing to the peace, stability and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region and the globe.
Ambassador Xiao also answered questions from the audience on topics including China's development, China-Australia relations, cooperation between China and Tasmania and Chinese naval exercise in high seas far from Australia’s coastline.
