Chargé d'Affaires of the Mission of China to the African Union Zhang Wei Meets with UNODC-ROEA Regional Representative

At the request of the UNODC-ROEA, Mr. ZHANG Wei, Charge d’affaires of the Mission of China to the African Union, met with H.E. Ashita Mittal, Regional Representative of the Regional Office for Eastern Africa of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on April 11.

Ms. Mittal introduced the UNODC-ROEA's efforts to help African countries dealing with drug crimes, cyber scamming, small arms smuggling, environmental crimes, etc. She appraised the results of China-Africa cooperation and expressed the willingness to strengthen coordination with China to jointly promote the cause of peace and development in Africa.

Mr. Zhang introduced the important areas of cooperation between China and Africa outlined on the FOCAC Beijing Summit, and expressed China's willingness to continue to provide support within its capacity for the sustainable development of Africa. China is willing to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with UNODC and relevant UN agencies to help African countries address security challenges. He also briefed China's contribution on the control of fentanyl related substances.
