On April 17, 2025, the Consulate General of China in Perth, in collaboration with the WA Branch of the Australian Institute of International Affairs (AIIA), held “Youth Talk on Diplomacy” symposium to discuss “Chinese Modernization and the World”. Consul General Long Dingbin attended and delivered a speech. Kelly Tranter, Deputy Director of DFAT WA State Office, Oliver Bodewes, AIIA WA Secretary and around 30 young scholars were present.
Consul General Long introduced the key outcomes of the “Two Sessions”, the Central Conference on Work Related to Neighboring Countries and the Conference for Chiefs of Overseas Mission. He stated that China will continue to advance Chinese modernization and work hand in hand with other countries to create a better future. He emphasized that there are no winners in tariff or trade wars, and protectionism is a deadend. He also highlighted the vast potential for China-Australia cooperation and expressed hope that youth from both countries will contribute to the growth of bilateral relations. Bodewes noted that the relationship between Australia and China is broad and profound, and that the youth of both nations should strengthen exchanges to write a new chapter in Australia-China friendship.
Young representatives from the Consulate General shared their insights on building a community with a shared future for mankind, Chinese modernization, and China-Australia people-to-people exchanges. The event was lively, full of enthusiastic interaction and active discussions.
