On April 16, Ambassador Fan Yong paid a courtesy call to Hon. Bogolo Kenewendo, Minister of Minerals and Energy, to exchange views on strengthening friendly bilateral cooperation.  

Ambassador Fan briefed on the ten partnership actions of the FOCAC Beijing Summit 2024 proposed by President Xi Jinping. He noted that energy and mining are key sectors for Botswana’s economic and social development. China is willing to take the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to consistently uphold the principles of green and sustainable development, continuously deepening exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in the energy and mining fields.  

Hon. Kenewendo expressed the government is willing to further enhance exchanges with China and welcome capable Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Botswana. She encouraged companies to engage in high-quality and practical cooperation, conducting professionals training, aligning with Botswana’s new development plans.
