On April 25, H.E. Chu Maoming, Chinese Ambassador to Dominica, and Hon. Octavia Alfred, Dominica's Minister of Education, jointly visited the reconstruction site of the Goodwill Secondary School to review the progress of the post-Hurricane Maria reconstruction project. The project, which was undertaken by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) as part of China's assistance to Dominica, was also covered by the local mainstream media. The delegation was accompanied by Hon. Fenella Wenham, Parliamentary Secretary in the Dominican Ministry of Education, and Sun Xinhua, First Secretary for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Chinese Embassy.
During the visit, Ambassador Chu received a comprehensive briefing on the school's design plans, key construction milestones and the upcoming work schedule. He congratulated the project team on the completion of the main structural framework and stressed the importance of maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and environmental protection in the remaining works. He urged all parties to maintain a high standard of execution and to make Goodwill Secondary School a model project that reflects the enduring friendship between China and Dominica.
Minister Alfred praised both the pace and quality of the reconstruction and expressed her sincere thanks to the Chinese government for its continued and selfless support of Dominica's education cause. She also thanked the Chinese Embassy for its close monitoring of the project and pledged her Ministry's continued cooperation.
