Chinese Consul General in Auckland Chen Shijie Attends the Celebration of “International Chinese Language Day”

Consul General Chen Shijie attended and gave remarks at the  celebration of "International Chinese Language Day" held in Hamilton on 27 April. New Zealand Member of Parliament Ryan Hamilton, Mayor of Hamilton Paula Southgate attended the event with around 100 local Chinese language learners and community representatives .

In his remarks, Consul General Chen stated that Chinese, as one of the world's oldest languages, embodies the wisdom and heritage of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization. Chinese is becoming increasingly popular in New Zealand and serves as an important cultural and emotional bridge between the people of China and New Zealand. He hopes that "International Chinese Language Day" will  further deepen our bilateral cooperation in education, culture, and other fields, and jointly write a new chapter in China-New Zealand relations.

New Zealand guests extended their greetings in Chinese, speaking highly of the language’s significant role in fostering community integration and promoting multicultural development.

Hosted by the Chinese Consulate-General in Auckland and  organized by the Waikato Chinese Cultural and Arts Centre. It showcased the charm of the Chinese culture through activities such as Chinese recitals, Hanfu displays, calligraphy exhibitions.
