On May 15, Ambassador Fan Yong met with Minister of Higher Education Hon. Prince Maele. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening education cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between China and Botswana.

Ambassador Fan said that the Partnership Action for People-to-People Exchanges is an important part of ten partnership actions for China and Africa to advance modernization that President Xi Jinping announced at the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries. China is willing to work with Botswana to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as Chinese language teaching and talent training, so as to cultivate more talents for promoting economic and social development.

Maele thanks China for its valuable support for Botswana's education development. He expressed that the Botswana side would like to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in areas such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and promoting youth employment.
