Bater, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Executive Vice Governor of Hainan Province,met with Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown during his visit to Auckland on 19 May. The two sides held in-depth discussions on strengthening bilateral exchanges and cooperation. During the meeting, both sides signed a letter of intent on establishing friendly relations.

Chen Shijie, Chinese Consul General in Auckland, accompanied the delegation and participated in the related activities.
