On May 21, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait Zhang Jianwei, accompanied by his wife Miao Haiyan, attended the opening ceremony of the "Chinese Indigo-Dyeing Art & Tea for Harmony" Intangible Cultural Heritage Experience Event, hosted by the China Cultural Center in Kuwait. Princess Anoud Assistant Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters of Kuwait (NCCAL) and over 100 guests from various sectors participated in the event.
In his speech, Ambassador Zhang noted that the traditional Indigo-Dyeing Art embodies the Chinese people's aspirations for a better life, while the concept of "Tea for Harmony" reflects the values of friendship, harmony, and inclusiveness in Chinese culture. He emphasized that China is willing to work with Kuwait to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of China and Kuwait, guided by the Global Civilization Initiative, and to carry out diverse and vibrant cultural activities to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the people of both countries.
Princess Anoud praised the profoundness and richness of China's intangible cultural heritage and expressed the Council's continued commitment to promoting cultural exchanges between Kuwait and China and building a bridge of friendship between the two nations.
Heritage inheritors from Yunnan demonstrated the art of tie-dyeing on-site, earning great admiration from the attendees.
Ambassador Zhang also gave interviews to Kuwait Television and several newspapers at the event.
