Distinguished Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Friends,

Good afternoon!

Welcome to the film reception celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and Sweden. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Sweden, l would like to extend a warm welcome to all our guests.

Though separated by thousands of miles, China and Sweden share a long history of friendly exchanges. Seventy-five years ago, Sweden became the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with new China, marking a new chapter of our friendship that transcends mountains and seas. Over the past 75 years, the relations between our two countries have developed steadily, with cooperation in various fields continuously expanding. Together, our two countries have painted a splendid picture of mutual achievement and common development between countries from the East and the West with different civilizations, different systems and different development levels. China and Sweden have maintained active exchanges and interactions in fields such as culture, education, and tourism, fostering the integration and mutual advancement of Eastern and Western civilizations. Today, this world-renowned Chinese animated film Ne Zha II has come to Sweden and will become a new highlight in the cultural and people-to-people exchanges between our two countries.

Chinese civilization has a long history of 5,000 years, and its profound cultural heritage and artistic achievements have served as a treasure trove providing rich nourishment for Chinese film making. The film we are watching today, Ne Zha ll, is adapted from the traditional Chinese myth “Nezha Conquers the Dragon King”. Nezha is a household name in China-a mythological figure that can be found in numerous Chinese operas, movies, and animated works, and he stands as one of the iconic symbols of Chinese culture. With its captivating storyline, exquisite production and rich cultural significance, the film has achieved remarkable box office success.

This film tells the story of Nezha's pursuit of self-betterment, defiance of power, and courage to fight against injustice. Through touching scenes of unity, cooperation, and resistance against oppression, it inspires reflection on unfair systems, discrimination and prejudice, sending a powerful message of standing together through thick and thin. Deeply rooted in traditional Chinese culture, this film seamlessly combines Eastern aesthetics with a modern perspective. lt has gained widespread popularity among overseas audiences, showcasing the immense potential for cross-cultural exchanges, mutual understanding and mutual learning. Amid the turbulent and changing international landscape and frequent regional conflicts and turmoils, Ne Zha ll conveys the spirit for strengthened cooperation among nations to jointly address risks and challenges and promote the building of a more just and equitable international order.

Now, let's enjoy Ne Zha ll, an audio-visual feast that highlights the profoundness of the Chinese culture. Let's feel the time-honored and ever-growing China-Sweden friendship, embrace the trend of our times featuring exchanges and cooperation, and usher in a brighter future for China and Sweden. Thank you!
