Chinese Ambassador-designate to Rwanda Gao Wenqi Arrives in Kigali

On June 27th, 2025, Mr. GAO Wenqi, Ambassador-designate of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Rwanda, arrived in Kigali. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda, officials of the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda, welcomed him upon his arrival at the airport.

Mr. GAO expressed his great honor to serve as the ambassador to the beautiful country of thousands of hills - Rwanda. He said, under the strategic guidance of our two Heads of State, China and Rwanda have forged profound political trust, grown closer economic and trade ties, achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation, expanded people-to-people and cultural exchanges, etc. Guided by the important consensus reached by two Heads of State, he looked forward to working with the Rwandan side, to further implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership, and better benefit both countries and peoples.

The Rwanda officials warmly welcomed Mr. GAO. They affirmed that Rwanda attaches great importance to Rwanda-China relations, and will provide facilitation and assistance for Mr. GAO during his tour of duty, and further advance bilateral relations.

Mr. GAO Wenqi is the sixteenth Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda.
