On 26 June 2025, Her Excellency Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, and Hon. Jomo Campbell, Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources, attended the opening ceremony of the practical farming techniques workshop specially held for the Bahamian farmers. The workshop was jointly organized by the Bahamian Department of Agriculture, the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development, the Chinese Embassy in The Bahamas, and the Hunan-Bahamas Agricultural Demonstration Farm.
Ambassador Yan introduced China's agricultural science and technology innovation, promotion and application, and China's assistance to The Bahamas in agriculture. Yan emphasized that the workshop is a concrete action for China to implement the outcomes of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum in agriculture and food security. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with The Bahamas in training agricultural technical personnel and capacity building of professional farmers to achieve food security and sustainable development jointly.
Minister Campbell thanked China for its long-term support for the agricultural development of The Bahamas, stating that the Bahamas-China agricultural cooperation reflects the two countries' partnership "rooting in trust, shared learning, and a common vision for growth", which provides support for The Bahamas to implement its food security strategy.
Ambassador Yan had a warm conversation with the Bahamian farmers. The Bahamian media reported on the event.
