On July 2, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua met with the President of the Elections Commission of the Maldives, Mr. Mohamed Zahid, and members of the commission.

President Mr. Zahid made an introduction of the democratic development of the Maldives and the Elections Commission, spoke highly of China’s long-standing support for the economic and social development of the Maldives, and expressed expectations to enhance capacity building and experience exchanges with China.   

Ambassador Kong said that China and the Maldives have long traditional friendship, and the practical cooperation between the two countries has yielded fruitful achievements. China is ready to continue to support the Maldives in exploring the development path that suits its national conditions, in order to further benefit the Maldivian people.
