On July 4, the Chinese Embassy in The Gambia held a ceremony for the China Medical Team and hosted a reception under the theme “China Gambia Health Cooperation: United for Health, Together We Thrive”.
Representing the Minister of Health, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry attended the event, along with members of the Select Committee on Health, Refugees, Disaster and Humanitarian of the National Assembly, representatives from the Gambia Medical and Dental Council, heads of general hospitals, faculty from the School of Medicine, military medical personnel, the Gambia Red Cross, and Country Representative of WHO and UNICEF. Over 100 guests participated in the reception.
Ambassador Liu highlighted recent progress in China–Gambia health cooperation, emphasizing its people-centered approach and its role in strengthening bilateral friendship and improving public wellbeing. He congratulated the 22nd China Medical Team on successfully completing their mission and encouraged the 23rd team to carry forward the spirit of the Chinese medical mission and strive for even greater achievements.
Permanent Secretary Lamin Dampha expressed deep appreciation to the Chinese government and people for their longstanding support in the health sector, praised the work of the China Medical Team, and presented certificates of appreciation signed by the President to members of the 22nd team.
