Chinese Ambassador to Iceland He Rulong Meets with Director of Þhingvellir National park

On July 16, 2025, Ambassador He Rulong met with Einar Á.E. Sæmundsen, the director of Þingvellir National Park.The two sides exchanged views on further enhancing tourism cooperation between China and Iceland and safeguarding the rights and interests of Chinese tourists.  

Ambassador He spoke highly of the significant role Þingvellir National Park , a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has played in promoting mutual learning and cultural exchanges between Iceland and China. He noted that the number of Chinese tourists visiting Iceland in 2024 has already approached 100,000 and is still rapidly growing. The embassy is willing to strengthen communication with the national park to jointly improve the travel experience of the Chinese tourists in Iceland and protect their legitimate rights and interests.  

Director Sæmundsen said that Þingvellir is a top destination for the Chinese tourists. The park is currently focusing on upgrading its infrastructure and comprehensively improving services and protection to tourists so as to ensure a safe, comfortable, and enriching travel experience in Iceland.
