On July 20, Chinese Enterprises Philippines Association (CEPA) Cebu Branch hosted the Friendship Cup Badminton Tournament at Metro Sports Center to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Philippines diplomatic relationship. Over 40 teams from local enterprises, schools, chambers, police offices and communities participated the tournament.
In her opening remarks, Consul General Zhang Zhen expressed appreciations to the supporters and participants from different sectors. She spoke highly of the contribution made by the Chinese enterprises together with the local partners benefiting local development and local people’s life. She pointed out that the bilateral ties have yielded many fruits although history is not always smooth sailing. The tournament is not only a test of speed and skill, but also a showcase of the teamwork and the spirit of friendship. True friendship is not about who wins, but how we elevate each other’s game, she said.
As a player and the guest of honor, Tacloban City councilor Christopher Randy Esperas delivered a brief address at the opening ceremony. Mr. Wang Jun Secretary General of CEPA Cebu Branch delivered a welcome address.
