On August 1, the Chinese Embassy in Dominica held the 2025 Chinese Government Scholarship Award Ceremony. Attendees included H.E. Sylvanie Burton, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica and Mr. Burton, H.E. Chu Maoming, Chinese Ambassador to Dominica, Hon. Alfred, Minister for Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence, Hon. Wenham-Sheppard, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence. Ms Thomas, President of the Dominica-China Friendship Association was the master of the Ceremony. This year’s scholarship recipients and their families, relevant government officials, and representatives from Tsinghua University participated in the ceremony. Ambassador Chu Maoming congratulated the scholarship recipients, encouraging them to study diligently, think critically, and immerse themselves in research. He urged them to bring advanced knowledge and technology back to Dominica, injecting new momentum into the nation’s development. He also expressed hope that the students would embrace Chinese culture with an open mind and become inheritors and promoters of the friendship between the two countries.
Minister Alfred extended sincere gratitude to China for its long-term support and encouraged the recipients to cherish the opportunity and contribute to Dominica’s development upon completing their studies.
President Burton and Ambassador Chu Maoming jointly presented admission letters to the scholarship recipients.
