Chinese Consul General in New York Chen Li Attends a Special Screening of Dead to Rights in New York

On August 15, Consul General Chen Li attended the special screening of Dead to Rights in New York, where he joined with American audiences to watch the film and commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

In his remarks, Chen Li highlighted that on this day 80 years ago, Japan announced its unconditional surrender, marking China’s victory in the War of Resistance. The film depicts the brutality of the Eastern Front of World War II and highlights the tremendous sacrifices made by the Chinese people for the victory of the global anti-fascist struggle. He emphasized that history must not be forgotten or distorted; peace is hard-won and must be safeguarded by every generation.

Audiences remarked that the Nanjing Massacre remains an unforgettable part of the World Anti-Fascist War. The film helps fill a missing page in history, reminding us that peace is invaluable.
