Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding Attends Basketball Friendship Match Celebrating 45 Years of China-Zimbabwe Diplomatic Ties

On August 16, a basketball friendship match celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of China-Zimbabwe diplomatic relations was held in Harare. Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding and Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works Albert Tawanda Mavunga attended the event and presented awards to the participants.

The joint team representing the Chamber of Chinese Enterprises in Zimbabwe and the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe faced off against the team from the Better Basketball Zimbabwe Club. Players from both sides engaged in fierce competition while fostering friendship through basketball, drawing waves of applause and cheers from the on-site spectators.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zhou congratulated both teams on their outstanding performances. He noted that as one of the series of events commemorating the 45th anniversary of China-Zimbabwe diplomatic relations, this match represents a touching chapter in sports exchanges between the two countries and a vivid testament to the friendship between their peoples. China stands ready to work with Zimbabwe to continuously advance sports and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations, injecting new impetus into the building of a high-level China-Zimbabwe community with a shared future.

Thanking China for its long-term support for Zimbabwe’s sports development, Deputy Minister Mavunga said he wanted to see the two countries deepen practical cooperation in various fields to continuously achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
