On August 25, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Papua New Guinea held a press briefing. Chinese Ambassador to PNG H.E. Yang Xiaoguang attended the briefing and delivered a keynote speech. Journalists from multiple media outlets, including the PNG NBC, Post Courier, The National, and PNG Bulletin, participated in the event.
On the occasion of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Ambassador Yang provided an in-depth explanation of the profound significance of building a community with a shared future for humanity, the historical context and legal facts pertaining to the Taiwan question, as well as China's policies toward Pacific Island countries. He emphasized that China always regards Pacific Island countries as good friends, good partners, and good brothers, and is committed to building an even closer China-Pacific Island Countries community with a shared future.
Ambassador Yang congratulated PNG on its 50th anniversary of independence, reviewed the achievements of cooperation between China and PNG across various areas, and said that China has always sincerely and actively supported PNG's economic and social development. China stands ready to work with all sectors of PNG to continuously promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to new heights.
Ambassador Yang also answered questions from journalists regarding bilateral relations, specific areas of cooperation, etc.
