On August 25, the China-South Sudan High-Level Peace and Development Symposium was successfully held in Juba, South Sudan. Over 30 scholars and think tank representatives from China and South Sudan engaged in lively discussions on three themes: “Upholding the International Order, Fairness and Justice”, “Peace and Development”, and “Poverty Reduction and Human Rights Guarantees Cooperation”.
Mrs. Huo Ying, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in South Sudan, attended the symposium and stated that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. She expressed hope that Chinese and South Sudanese scholars will take this symposium as an opportunity to produce insightful views on promoting the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
Hon. Martin Elia Lomuro, South Sudan’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang, Minister of Trade and Industry and Cde. Mary Apai Ayiga, Second Deputy Chairperson of the SPLM, delivered keynote speeches. They expressed gratitude for the long-term and comprehensive support provided by China to South Sudan and stated that South Sudan would like to work together with the Chinese side to continuously advance the bilateral relations.
Attendees also visited the thematic photo exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
