Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union Ambassador Jiang Feng Pays a courtesy call on Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development of the AU Commission

On September 1, Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of Mission of China to the African Union, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Amb. Amma Twum-Amoah, Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development of the AU Commission. Minister Zhang Wei and other officials were present.

Amb. Jiang underlined that social and livelihood-related sectors are priority areas in China’s support to Africa. He commended the AU for its tremendous efforts to advance social progress and improve people’s livelihoods across the continent, and highly appreciated the Commissioner’s contributions to promoting China–AU friendship and cooperation. He expressed China’s readiness to work with the African side to successfully host the 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, making cultural and people-to-people ties a “highlight” in deepening friendship and expanding the outcomes of China–Africa cooperation.

Amb. Twum-Amoah welcomed Ambassador Jiang’s assumption of his new post, noting that Africa and China enjoy a long-standing friendship. She emphasized that the two sides have achieved fruitful cooperation in social development, public health, and people-to-people exchanges. She expressed her commitment to further consolidating Africa–China friendship and cooperation, strengthening high-level exchanges, and working with China to jointly implement the outcomes of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) for the benefit of African and Chinese people.
