Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union Ambassador Jiang Feng Meets with President of Pan-African Parliament

On September 9, Ambassador Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, met with Hon. Chief Fortune Zephania Charumbira, President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), and exchanged views on deepening cooperation.

Amb. Jiang introduced China’s Global Governance Initiative (GGI), the zero-tariff treatment to African countries that have diplomatic ties with China and 2026 China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He stated that China has always attached great importance to the role that PAP plays in supporting Africa’s unity, self-reliance, and regional integration. The Mission of China to the African Union is willing to strengthen exchanges between relevant Chinese institutions and the PAP, promote cooperation between China and the AU in relevant areas, and deliver greater benefits to the peoples of both sides.

Hon. Charumbira congratulated Amb. Jiang’s assumption of his new post, and expressed sincere appreciation for China’s longstanding and valuable support to Africa and the African Union. He noted that Global Governance Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping is timely and aligns closely with Africa’s aspirations. PAP is ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China and contribute to building an all weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era. He reiterated the African Union and the PAP’s firm adherence to the One-China Principle.
