On 6th October, H.E. Ambassador Xiao Jianguo was invited to attend the Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Event of Teng Yun Chinese Temple. He celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Lau How Teck, Chairman of Teng Yun Chinese Temple Mr. Lee Eng Ching, and friends from various sectors in Brunei.
Ambassador Xiao extended festive greetings to the overseas Chinese and spoke highly of Teng Yun Chinese Temple’s long-term dedication to carrying forward the traditional Chinese culture by organizing the event, which has made significant contributions to deepening the mutual understanding between the Chinese and Bruneian people and advancing a China-Brunei community with a shared future.
Ambassador Xiao further elaborated on the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative. He expressed the Embassy's willingness to work with Brunei friends to promote people-to-people exchange and deepen mutual learning between civilizations, jointly implement the four major global initiatives, so as to stride forward hand in hand toward a community with a shared future for humanity.
Chairman Lee Eng Ching expressed gratitude for the long-standing support from the Embassy, and emphasized the continued commitment of Teng Yun Chinese Temple to hosting cultural exchange activities, preserving Chinese traditional culture, as well as fostering closer friendly ties between Brunei and China.
During the event, Ambassador Xiao joined the guests in appreciating the lantern competition entries and presented awards to the winners. They also witnessed a Chinese opera performance by the Xiamen Xiangan Chinese Opera School.
