On October 10, H. E. Wang Di, Chinese Ambassador to Canada, conducted an exclusive interview with Vassy Kapelos on Question Period, a political show of Canadian mainstream TV network CTV News and took questions regarding the China-Canada relationship, bilateral trade, tariffs and so on.

Ambassador Wang pointed out that there has been a positive momentum in China-Canada relationship for quite a period of time, including a very candid and constructive discussion between Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in New York in which a lot of common ground was reached, charting the course for the future development of the bilateral relationship. China is willing to maintain high-level interactions with Canada and expand bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various areas,he added.

Noting that the essence of China-Canada bilateral economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial and win-win, Ambassador Wang made it clear that Canada should first take the initiative to correct its unjustified tariffs, and then China will adjust its countermeasures accordingly. Referring to the huge potential in energy cooperation as an example, Ambassador Wang said that as long as both countries uphold the spirit of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation,trade and economic cooperation between China and Canada will become better and better.
