On November 6, 2025, the Chinese Consulate General in Johannesburg held a seminar themed “China’s Development, Global Opportunities”. The event was attended by Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Chinese Consul General, Ms. Morakane Mosupyoe, Speaker of Gauteng Provincial Legislature, Mr. Tshilidzi Munyai, member of Parliament, Ms. Margaret Arnolds, Speaker of Johannesburg City Council, Ms. Bernadette Zeiler, CEO of Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Prof. Themba Maseko, head of the Wits School of Governance, along with over 20 representatives from various local sectors.

In his remarks, Consul General Pan briefed on the significance of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, highlighted China's development achievements, the development vision and prospects for the 15th Five-Year Plan period. He stated that China will continue to expand high-level opening up and share development opportunities with countries around the world, including South Africa. He expressed hope that various sectors of China and South Africa will strengthen exchanges to further deepen the bilateral cooperation.

The guests spoke highly of China's modernization achievements and expressed their hope to learn from China's experience in medium- and long-term planning and deepen cooperation between two countries across various fields.
