On 17th November, H.E Ambassador Mr. Liu Weimin visited Tonga National University (TNU) to introduce the essence and key outcomes of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, especially the Recommendations for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development. More than 100 people attended the event, including Acting Vice-Chancellor of TNU, Dr. Tangikina Moimoi Steen and representatives of teachers and students.

Ambassador Liu introduced the major new achievements in China's economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, and the blueprint for further advancing Chinese modernization in the next five years.
He emphasized that both China and Tonga are currently at a crucial stage of development, China looks forward to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with Tonga to elevate bilateral relations to a new height.
Ambassador Liu pointed out that youngsters are the future of the country, encouraged the students to be envoys of cultural exchange and mutual learning, participants in practical cooperation and practitioners of a shared future, and contribute to the development and revitalization of our two countries.
The event was conducted in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Ambassador Liu also answered questions on topics such as Chinese Government Scholarships and education empowerment.
