On 18 November 2025, Ambassador Liu Yantao and his wife Madame Hou Yahui paid a farewell call on President Nikos Christodoulides.

Ambassador Liu expressed heartfelt thanks to President Christodoulides and the Cypriot government for their strong commitment to China-Cyprus and China-EU relations. He noted that the Chinese side is ready to deepen all-round exchanges and cooperation with the Cypriot side, so as to bring bilateral ties to a new high.

President Christodoulides commended Ambassador Liu’s excellent work. He stressed that Cyprus cherishes its relations with China, will never change its one-China policy, and will continue to firmly support the growth of China-EU relations.
