On November 16, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua visited the headquarters of Sun Siyam Media, a leading Maldivian media outlet, and held discussions with CEO Mohamed Asif and other members of the management team.

Ambassador Kong highlighted the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), emphasizing that China–Maldives relations are currently at their best in history and that there is great potential for media exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. He noted that the media plays an important role in enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening the friendship between the two peoples. China is willing to deepen media cooperation with the Maldives and present a true, multi-dimensional, and comprehensive image of China.

The Maldivian side stated that China is a leader of the future and a country full of opportunities. They noted that the prospects for bilateral media cooperation are broad and expressed willingness to work with China to expand multi-platform media collaboration, further promoting mutual learning between civilizations and closer people-to-people ties.

Sun Siyam Media operates television, radio, and streaming platforms in both Dhivehi and English. With over 100,000 daily online views, it is among the most influential media outlets in the Maldives. The company also produced a dedicated multimedia feature on Ambassador Kong’s visit that day.
