Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Fiji Wang Yuan Attends the Handover Ceremony of the Hongqi Sedan to the State House of Fiji

On January 26, 2026, the handover ceremony of the Hongqi sedan was held at the State House of Fiji. President of Fiji Ratu Naiqama T. Lalabalavu, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Wang Yuan and major diplomats with the Chinese Embassy attended the ceremony.

Wang Yuan reviewed in his remarks the profound friendship between China and Fiji featuring sharing weal and woe for a shared future, introduced the 15th Five-Year Plan of China in light of the development of its industry epitomized by the Hongqi sedan, and expressed his confidence in the bright future of China-Fiji cooperation.

President Lalabalavu expressed gratitude to China for the generous donation, and said that over more than 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Fiji, practical cooperation has yielded fruitful outcomes. The Fijian government is firmly committed to the one-China principle and is willing to deepen cooperation with China in the mutual interest of the two nations.

Prior to the ceremony, traditional ceremonies were held at the State House.
