On February 7, 2026, Mr. Wan Degang, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Sweden, attended the 2026 Chinese New Year Gala for Chinese Students and Scholars Across Sweden at the invitation of Chinese Students and Scholars Association in Sweden (CSSASE). More than 400 Chinese students and scholars in Sweden, together with Swedish friends, gathered to celebrate the Spring Festival of the Year of the Horse. Mr. Huang Liqiong, Counsellor in charge of educational affairs of the Embassy, was also present at the event.

Mr. Wan extended New Year greetings to all Chinese students and scholars in Sweden, and briefed them on China’s economic and social development as well as educational, cultural and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and Sweden. He encouraged the students to uphold an enterprising spirit, pursue their personal aspirations in tandem with the development of the times, devote themselves to diligent study, and strive for excellence in their pursuits. He called on them to become compelling storytellers of Chinese youth and Chinese modernization, envoys of friendship between China and Sweden, contributors to practical cooperation, and advocates of win-win results, bringing their youthful wisdom and energy to the sound and sustained development of China-Sweden relations.

The students and scholars took part in traditional cultural activities such as paper-cutting and writing Spring Festival couplets, and enjoyed performances created by the students themselves, celebrating the Spring Festival through the convergence of tradition and modernity. The event was held in a festive and joyful atmosphere, brimming with youthful vitality.
