Updated: March 13, 2026 06:10(From Chinese Embassy in Australia)

On March 12, Ambassador Xiao Qian received an exclusive interview by Channel 9, introducing China’s Two Sessions, especially Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s answers to questions from  Chinese and foreign journalists, and explaining China’s 15th Five-Year Plan.

Ambassador Xiao stated that the Two Sessions are institutional arrangements for people’s democracy with Chinese characteristics  and a concentrated manifestation of the Chinese people’s exercise of their democratic rights. The Two Sessions reviewed  and adopted the 15th Five-Year Plan, which is of special significance for achieving the goal of doubling China’s per capita GDP by 2035 compared to 2020. The path of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the choice of the Chinese people and the only development path suited to China’s national conditions. There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is a province of China; Taiwan’s future can only be decided by the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people. China regards Australia as a friend and is willing to work with Australia to properly manage differences, focus on common interests, and promote new progress in China-Australia relations.

Ambassador Xiao also answered questions on other international and regional hot issues.
