Chinese Ambassador to Tonga Liu Weimin Attends Tonga’s 2026 Public Service Month - Best Practice Conference

On 18 June, Ambassador Liu Weimin attended the annual Best Practice Conference organized by the Public Service Commission of Tonga and delivered remarks as the Guest of Honour.

Ambassador Liu spoke highly of the effective implementation of the new Tongan government's 100‑Day Work Plan, which demonstrates its firm resolve to raise public service standards. He noted that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and that China has always adhered to the people‑centred development philosophy and continuously improved the efficiency of public services. Guided by the principle of establishing and practising a correct understanding of government performance, Chinese public officials take pragmatic steps to address the pressing concerns and difficulties of the people, and strive to build a clean, efficient and people‑friendly government service system. He also emphasized that China and Tonga enjoy broad scope for mutual learning in improving governance capacity and service delivery.

Ms. Tai'atu 'Ata'ata, Chairperson of the Public Service Commission, expressed gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for its support to the event. She was deeply impressed by China's efforts to improve public service delivery and expressed readiness to engage in exchanges and cooperation with China.

Representatives from Tongan government departments exchanged views on e‑government, digital management and other topics. Ambassador Liu presented awards to the award recipients.
