On June17, Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen attended the celebration of the 58th Araw ng Sta. Maria and delivered a speech. Philippine officials including Claude Bautista, Municipal Mayor of Municipality of Sta. Maria, Tanya Rabat-Tan, Regional Director of the Department of Tourism Region XI, and Romeo Castanaga, Regional Director of the Department of Trade and Industry Region XI, were present at the event.

In her remarks, Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen stated that the millennia-long history of China-Philippines relations has demonstrated that good-neighborly relations, mutually beneficial cooperation, and joint pursuit of development are in the fundamental interests of both countries. China welcomes more municipal government officials and representatives from relevant departments to visit China to enhance mutual understanding.
Mayor Bautista extended a warm welcome to Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen. He noted that China is an important trading partner and expressed hope that this visit will serve as a bridge for deepening exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
During the event, Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen also visited the Bamboo Training Site in Barangay San Agustin to inspect the bamboo livelihood and training programs.
