On August 21, 2026, Zhou Hongyou, Chargé d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, met with Professor Busayo Fakinlede, Senior Special Assistant to the Nigerian President on Marine and Blue Economy.

Chargé d’Affaires Zhou noted that the China-Nigeria Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has entered a new stage of high-quality development under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Tinubu. Political mutual trust between the two sides keeps consolidating, and fruitful outcomes have been yielded in cooperation across various fields. China stands ready to take the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries to explore blue-economy cooperation to foster new growth drivers for bilateral ties, and contribute to building a high-level China-Nigeria community with a shared future.

Professor Fakinlede spoke highly of China’s achievements in developing its maritime and blue economy. He expressed gratitude for China’s contributions to the modernization of Nigeria’s ports and the training of maritime professionals.
