On September 23, 2026, the Chinese Consulate General in Cape Town held a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Nearly 400 guests were present,including Mr Frolick, House Chairperson of National Assembly,  Mr.Govender, Deputy Chairperson of the NCOP, Mr Radebe, House Chairperson of the NCOP, Mr Simmers,Acting Premier of the Western Cape Government，Mr Mitchell, Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament,and other senior government officials, members of the consular corps in Cape Town, as well as representatives from science and technology, culture, media, Chinese communities and enterprises.

Consul General Ren Faqiang stated in his address that under the firm leadership of the Communist Party of China, China has scored remarkable achievements in economic and social development over the 77 years since the Its founding, injecting valuable stability into the world. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and South Africa, national diplomacy and local cooperation have advanced in tandem and borne fruitful results. The Consulate General stands ready to work with all sectors in its consular jurisdiction to elevate China-South Africa cooperation to new heights.

Guests from the South African side lauded China’s development achievements and its vital role in global governance. They expressed the hope of deepening bilateral friendly exchanges with China and advancing cooperation among the Global South.
