The Chinese Embassy in Fiji held a grand reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China on September 23rd. Over 200 guests attended, including Acting President, Chief Justice His Lordship Salesi Temo, ministers, parliamentarians, the diplomatic corps, and representatives of Chinese businesses, the Chinese community and people from all walks of life in Fiji.

Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Wang Yuan gave a briefing on China’s historic achievements over the past 77 years, and introduced the core meaning of China’s Four Global Initiatives and the opportunities China’s 15th Five-Year Plan offers the world, expressing that China stands ready to continue working with Fiji on the basis of mutual respect, common development and solidarity and cooperation.

On behalf of the Fijian government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chief of Protocol Mrs. Kiti Temo extended warm congratulations on China’s National Day, highly commended Fiji-China cooperation achievements across sectors, and reiterated commitments to further enhance partnership with China for a prosperous future for our two nations.

Guests watched the video on China’s bid for BBNJ Secretariat, alongside economic and cultural displays and artistic performances presented jointly by businesses, cultural and educational institutions, and arts groups. The event unfolded in a friendly and vibrant atmosphere.
