On September 23, the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria held a grand reception to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Ambassador Yu Dunhai and Joseph Tegbe, Nigeria’s Minister of Power and Director-General of the Nigeria-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, delivered remarks. More than 600 guests attended, including Nigerian friends from all walks of life, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Nigeria, and overseas Chinese in Nigeria.

In his address, Ambassador Yu reviewed the remarkable achievements China has made over the 77 years since the founding of New China, as well as the positive progress in China-Africa and China-Nigeria relations. He elaborated on the four major global initiatives and the development opportunities China offers, emphasizing that embracing China is embracing the future, and walking alongside China is walking alongside opportunity. China is willing to deepen strategic alignment with Nigeria, fully unlock the dividends of the Zero-Tariff Policy, and jointly write a new chapter of China-Africa and China-Nigeria friendship.

Minister Tegbe congratulated China on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and spoke highly of China’s development achievements. He expressed readiness to promote greater development of bilateral relations under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state.

The atmosphere at the reception was warm and friendly. The Hunan Art Troupe presented wonderful performances, which were met with resounding applause from the audience.
