On 12 October 2026, Ambassador of China to Cyprus Yang Yundong met with President of the Movement for Social Democracy (EDEK) Sophia Christodoulou Makri. 

The two sides had an in-depth and friendly exchange of views on China–Cyprus relations as well as CPC-EDEK exchanges.
