On September 21, 2023 local time, Vice President Han Zheng met with President of the 78th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Dennis Francis on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Han Zheng said that China has always been a staunch supporter of and active contributor to the cause of the UN, and firmly supports true multilateralism. The UN General Assembly is the UN's main Charter-based body with universal representation. China will continue to support the work of the UN General Assembly and its president.

Han Zheng said that the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi Jinping has been supported by a growing number of countries and has become a common consensus of the international community. China supports the UN in playing a central role in constantly advancing the reform of the global governance system, safeguarding world peace and stability, and promoting world economic recovery and sustainable development.

Dennis Francis said that China is an important cooperative partner of the UN, and an advocate and leader of multilateralism. Dennis Francis thanked China for the longstanding and valuable support for the work of the UN General Assembly and expressed his readiness to work with China to enhance cooperation in sustainable development and other fields in order to jointly address global challenges.
