Li Qiang said that since the beginning of this year, unstable and uncertain factors in the international landscape have increased. China and Pakistan have maintained close strategic communication and worked together to address risks and challenges, demonstrating the high level of bilateral relations. President Xi Jinping held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif two days ago, during which they reached new and important common understandings on advancing the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan. China is ready to maintain close high-level exchanges with Pakistan, continuously deepen strategic mutual trust, further strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
Li Qiang said that China is ready to work with Pakistan to actively build an upgraded version 2.0 of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The two sides should make good use of the mechanisms of the Joint Coordination Committee of the CPEC, the Joint Economic and Trade Commission, and the Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation, to expand and enhance trade, deepen industrial synergy and integration, and advance the construction of major connectivity projects such as ports, highways, and railways, so as to better achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. China is ready to import more high-quality products from Pakistan and welcomes Pakistan to make good use of platforms such as the China International Import Expo. The two sides should deepen exchanges in healthcare, education, culture and other fields as well as among youth and at the sub-national level, to enhance mutual understanding and affinity between the people of both countries. China is willing to help Pakistan strengthen its counterterrorism capacity-building and hopes that both sides will work together to ensure the security and safety of Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in Pakistan. China supports Pakistan in playing a positive role in international and regional affairs and stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination with Pakistan on issues such as climate change.
Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt congratulations on the complete success of the SCO Tianjin Summit and the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. He said that under the wise leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has made remarkable development achievements. The ironclad friendship between Pakistan and China has been passed down from generation to generation and has grown stronger over time. Pakistan firmly abides by the one-China principle and staunchly supports China's position on the Taiwan question and issues related to Xizang, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong. He expressed gratitude for China's long-term valuable support for Pakistan. He added that the Pakistani side looks forward to making joint efforts with the Chinese side to maintain close high-level exchanges, and guided by the advancement of the building of the upgraded version 2.0 of the CPEC, to accelerate the construction of key connectivity projects, and deepen cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, mining, artificial intelligence, economic parks, medical and health care and other fields, so as to continuously promote the building of a Pakistan-China community with a shared future. Pakistan will continue to resolutely combat all forms of terrorism and make every effort to ensure the security and safety of Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions in Pakistan. Pakistan is also willing to strengthen multilateral coordination with China to safeguard regional peace and stability as well as international fairness and justice.
During the visit, the two sides signed multiple cooperation documents covering the CPEC, economy and trade, artificial intelligence, science and technology, agriculture, cultural heritage protection, judiciary, and people's livelihood, and jointly released the Action Plan to Foster an Even Closer China-Pakistan Community with a Shared Future in the New Era between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (2025-2029).
