On November 3, 2025 local time, Vice President Han Zheng met with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, Qatar.

Han Zheng conveyed cordial greetings from President Xi Jinping to Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Han Zheng expressed China's support for Qatar in hosting the World Summit for Social Development and wished the summit a complete success. He said that Qatar holds a unique and significant influence in the Middle East and is an important strategic partner of China. China has consistently attached great importance to its relations with Qatar. President Xi Jinping and Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met in July last year during the "Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus" meeting and reached important common understandings on deepening China-Qatar relations. Noting that the recently convened fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China deliberated over and adopted the Recommendations for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, Han Zheng said China is committed to better benefiting the world through its development, which will create valuable opportunities for friendly cooperation between China and Qatar. Deep political mutual trust forms the foundation for the development of China-Qatar relations. China is ready to work with Qatar to jointly implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, maintain high-level exchanges, continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests, and deepen cooperation in energy, artificial intelligence, digital economy and other fields, so as to continuously elevate the China-Qatar strategic partnership to new levels.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani thanked Han Zheng for attending the Second World Summit for Social Development and asked Han Zheng to convey his best wishes to President Xi Jinping. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said that China is Qatar's largest trading partner, and that the Qatar-China relationship is of vital importance to Qatar. Qatar cherishes its friendship with China, appreciates China's support for its efforts to safeguard territorial sovereignty and national security, and will firmly abide by the one-China principle. Qatar is willing to stay informed about China's 15th Five-Year Plan, expand cooperation with China in various fields, strengthen the energy partnership, and elevate Qatar-China relations to new heights.
