On the afternoon of November 4, 2025, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met in Shanghai with Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut, who is in China to attend the eighth China International Import Expo.
Li Qiang stated that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Serbia relations have maintained a steady development momentum, with mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields advancing at an accelerated pace. Since the beginning of this year, President Xi Jinping and President Aleksandar Vučić have met twice and reached broad common understandings on a series of major issues, further charting the course for the building of a China-Serbia community with a shared future in the new era. In the spirit of mutual respect and mutual trust, China is ready to work with Serbia to firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns, continuously enrich bilateral relations, promote in-depth and substantive cooperation between the two countries, and bring more benefits to the people of both countries.
Li Qiang noted that the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China deliberated over and adopted the Recommendations for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan, making strategic plans for China's development in the next five years and beyond. China is ready to strengthen the alignment with Serbia's 2035 development plan, work with Serbia to make full use of the bilateral free trade agreement, and better leverage the role of the Intergovernmental Economic and Trade Mixed Committee mechanism between the two countries. Within the framework of the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, China is committed to advancing key projects such as the Hungary-Serbia railway, and tapping into the potential for cooperation in fields such as scientific and technological innovation, green economy, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence, to continuously expand and enhance economic and trade cooperation. Both sides should further strengthen people-to-people exchanges in culture, tourism, education, and sports to deepen the friendship between China and Serbia among their peoples. China is ready to coordinate and cooperate closely with Serbia on platforms such as the United Nations, and to encourage all parties to actively implement the four major global initiatives, practice true multilateralism, strengthen and improve global governance, and better build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Djuro Macut said that Serbia and China share a profound traditional friendship, and bilateral relations have made significant progress in recent years. The successful mutual visits of President Xi Jinping and President Aleksandar Vučić have led Serbia-China relations to a new height in history. The Serbian government abides by the one-China principle and firmly supports China's legitimate position on safeguarding its core interests. Serbia sincerely appreciates the valuable support China has provided for its economic and social development, and looks forward to maintaining close high-level exchanges with China, deepening cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, investment, the processing industry, science and technology, artificial intelligence, and tourism, and enhancing the friendship between the two peoples. Noting that China's economic growth has injected strong momentum into the sustainable development of the world, Djuro Macut expressed belief that China's 15th Five-Year Plan will bring new opportunities for Serbia's and other countries' cooperation with China. Serbia firmly supports the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, and is willing to strengthen collaboration with China on multilateral occasions to promote common development and prosperity.
