Xi Jinping Meets with President Faure Gnassingbe of Togo

On December 3 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Johannesburg with President Faure Gnassingbe of Togo.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the time-honored traditional friendship between China and Togo is jointly cultivated by generations of leaders of both countries and cherished by us very much. In recent years, China and Togo are witnessing the rapid development in their all-round friendly cooperation. China highly values developing its relations with Togo and will join efforts with Togo to push bilateral relations to new highs. The two countries should consolidate political mutual trust, enhance exchanges and cooperation and promote common development. China will encourage and support its enterprises to invest and develop in Togo, carry out production capacity cooperation with Togo in such areas as household appliances, construction materials, cotton spinning, food processing and automobile assembly and participate in Togo's infrastructure construction to help Togo establish its independent industrial system, and conduct cooperation with Togo in crop planting, marine fishing, agricultural and fishery product processing and other areas to help Togo realize food security. Both countries should strengthen security cooperation and deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Faure Gnassingbe expressed that Togo cherishes its traditional friendship with China and thanks for the long-term and valuable support from the Chinese government and people. Togo is now facing new situations in its economic and social development, hopes to expand cooperation with China in various fields such as food security, infrastructure construction including ports and railways, and logistics, and welcomes China to increase investment in Togo.
